ANTLER SEQUENCE

The Antler Sequence as defined at Battle Mountain (Roberts, 1951) consists in ascending order of the Battle Formation, Antler Peak Limestone, and the Edna Mountain Formation. The Antler Sequence is exposed in the northern Toiyabe Range, Battle Mountain area, Shoshone and Simpson Park Ranges, and in several localities to the west of the evaluation area. We have included about 800 feet of Early Permian, gray and brown sandstones and siltstones which overlie western assemblage rocks in the Horse Mountain area of the eastern Little Rock Creek Quadrangle in northern Elko County (Coats, 1985) with the Antler Sequence.

Stewart and Carlson (1976a) included rocks mapped in the Dry Hills, Cortez Mountains and southernmost Tuscarora Mountains as Antler Sequence on their map of northcentral Nevada. We have retained these rocks with their original mapped designation of Brock Canyon Formation (Gilluly and Masursky, 1965).
